Kirkland landscape company creates a private patio
Kirkland home is updated to include a privacy fence and paver patio which resemble a biergarten.
The homeowners wanted a private patio where they could both relax and entertain. The project components include a paver patio with an inset meandering stone path, stone seat wall, Craftsman cedar fence with pergola top, irrigation and ornamental plantings. The area is a small and underused portion of a city lot in Kirkland that offered no usable space or visual interest. The homeowners wanted a secluded outdoor room that could be used as a beer garden for their home-made specialty brews.
Environmental Construction Landscape Project:
- The privacy fence combined a design that the homeowners liked with the Craftsman columns that are features of their home.
- The pergola top creates a feel of the open rafters found in some of Munich’s Biergartens.
- The multi-toned paver patio encompasses the side yard to maximize the people space, while the contrast of the paving stones against the pavers breaks up the squareness of the area when it is nearly empty.
- The stone seat wall adds visual depth while creating room for plantings as it integrates additional seating.
Cedar fence and pergola top provide a beautiful and private outdoor sitting area.
Majestic garden gate and solid pillars blend in with the style and design used in this Kirkland home.
Landscaper in Kirkland creates more backyard space
Backyard hillside, patio, and native plantings create a pleasant entertainment area for this Kirkland home.
The homeowners had begun work on this backyard in Kirkland without a clearly defined blueprint for how to finish the development. The backyard was cleared of all growth and covered by tarps to prevent erosion. The amount of outdoor living space was limited to the deck and hot tub. There were no aesthetically pleasing features beyond the deck. The homeowners were looking for additional entertainment space as well as a garden to look out upon all seasons of the year.
Environmental Construction Landscape Project:
- The hillside was shored up with rock outcroppings and plantings.
- A hard surface from the deck to the hot tub was put in to reduce mud.
- Native plantings were installed to create year-round interest.
- A paver patio with bluestone path was constructed for additional entertaining space.
- A dry stream bed was installed to collect and disperse hillside run-off away from the house.
Local Seattle landscaper improves lakefront home
Kirkland lakefront home, located near Lake Washington, now enjoys a beautifully landscaped perimeter and more space for children and adults.
This Lake Washington home is on Juanita Drive in Kirkland, WA. It is an older lakefront home with a large back yard that is adjacent to a community park. The driveway continued past front door down a slope into back yard. There were minimal landscape elements to direct you towards the main entrance. The back yard was almost entirely lawn. The homeowners wanted to separate the front entry and the back yard to create a space where both the adults and kids can entertain and play. The project components include a four-posted entry pergola, a large circular paver patio framed by planting beds, semi-circular patios at the doors, a deck for the hot tub, privacy fencing, drainage and irrigation.
Environmental Construction Landscape Project:
- The entry pergola clearly delineates the front and back yards.
- Most of the lower driveway was removed leaving only a strip of asphalt that will be used as the pathway from the entry walk.
- Drainage at the edge of the new hardscape collects and removes the rainwater into the storm drain to prevent the remaining lawn from being soggy.
- The fence was extended along the property line creating a sense of privacy from the park.
- A large circular paver patio was installed in the lawn area. Matching semi-circular patios sit in front of the lower level doors. The patios are tied together by Pennsylvania Bluestone walkways
This new lakeside patio is the perfect place to watch the sunset over Lake Washington.
An arbor separates the front and backyard and gives architectural interest to this
Kirkland landscape.
The arbor and privacy fence provide a boundary between the home and neighborhood
park.
