Flood Prevention & Restoration

Landscaping for flood prevention Environmental Construction has the expertise and equipment necessary to rebuild and repair landscapes and streams after a flood. In Northwest Washington, flooding is a regular occurrence. Let us help you be prepared for our rainy season by installing proper drainage systems and hillside landscaping.

Stream Relocation

Stream relocation is a delicate process. We work closely with Certified Environmental Consultants who understand Department of Fisheries and other government agencies to ensure proper relocation efforts.

Coir Logs & Silt Fencing

Environmental Construction controls water run-off by installing rain gardens These are two product often used in stream restoration and during a landscape project. Coir logs are typically made from coconut fiber and are permanently placed above stream banks to control sediment intrusion. Silt fencing is a temporary barrier installed to prevent sediment runoff while the site is under development. Silt fencing is generally removed upon project completion

Urban Wildlife Habitats

We create urban wildlife habitats for those individuals who enjoy attracting wildlife into their yards. This can involve leaving large tree trunks in place, so as to provide food for birds as they decay over time, and typically involves a water source.

Permits

Obtaining proper permit before starting a job is critically important to assure your efforts go smoothly. We will assist in this process. Permits can be costly and may cause a delay.

Wetland Restoration & Delineation

A wetland can range from a slight depression that holds water only after a rain shower, to a forested swamp with saturated peat soils.

Wetland Restoration

Wetland areas are defined by the types of vegetation, soils and hydrology. Wetlands are complex, environmentally sensitive eco-systems that are subject to their own set of federal, state, and local regulations. Wetland restoration and landscaping near a wetland may require mitigation procedures such as a specific planting design, low-impact construction, or other preservation measures.

Wetland Delineation

Wetland delineation is simply identifying the boundary between a wetland and the adjacent upland. If you are planning on landscaping a part of your yard that contains a wet area, a wetland delineation should be performed to determine if a wetland exists on your property.

Environmental Construction landscape professionals can answer your questions about the wetland restoration process and wetland delineation.
